Simple Rules for web site design

  • Frequency of web content change is inversely proportional to publishing control
  • Frequency of web content change is proportional to number of people able to publish
  • Content quality is inversely proportional to frequency of change
  • Engagement is proportional to ability to comment and track replies

Thoughts?

    I like the principle, but suspect not all “proportional” links are linear.

      Agreed, especially the one about quality! These are all generalisations from the development of a number of websites in different domains (corporate and entertainment). I do think these are worthwhile guiding principles to have in mind when designing a site however.

      I didn’t want to call them guiding principles though 😛
